The weather dictated the quality of the contest which for large parts was lacking as handling errors, dropped balls and sliced kicks were the order of the day as the rain and cold took hold. That said there were still moments of class with some great close quarters carrying and defensive phases. Grogan's early score got us off to the dream start before Jayden Gregory and a touchline conversion stretched our lead to 14-0. Bideford scored the game's best try when they ran one in to score on the stroke of halftime. Despite losing a man in the early part of the second period the visitors got the next score as they capitalised on some loose possession at a wayward lineout. Their kick drifted wide to leave us 14-10 up and heading into a nervy final half hour. Moments before their man returned though Tom Speed finished off a period of sustained pick and go possessions in their 22 to re-affirm our position. Despite the missed kick and a yellow of our own we held Bideford at bay as the weather descended and in doing so ensured a solid four point win.
