Having secured a playoff berth already there was still something to play for as we had the chance to make it two seasons on the spin unbeaten at home in league fixtures. In sunny but chilly and windy conditions truth be told we never hit our strides. It was a game that won't live long in Tops fans memories and if it does perhaps for all the wrong reasons as we racked up five yellow cards with us playing at one point with twelve players. The wind made it hard to convert points from the boot with just three conversions between both teams from eleven tries. The result of that was that despite scoring neither side could ever pull clear; when Tucker crossed to give us a 27-22 lead with six minutes remaining it looked like we'd got out of jail. Two late tries of Launceston's, one following another unforced error which littered our game throughout and the final one following some confusion about whether there was a penalty advantage or not meant they took the win and by the largest margin the game had seen at any point. The result leaves us with two points which if we're correct means we'll have two home playoff matches in a row if we get that far. It does however result in a first loss at Bonfire Field in league fixtures since the 23rd September 2023 when Sidmouth beat us (a game not without cards either as that game featured a red for one of our boys) Congratulations must be given to the visitors who upon hearing of results elsewhere needed a win to avoid the relegation playoff so well done to you guys on bypassing that. Thanks for travelling and a great game. Tops fans we'll see you back in two weeks for the first of potentially three playoff matches that could see us reach Nat 2. Up first Brixham.
