We fell at the first hurdle in our Devon Senior Cup journey as we went down to Exmouth by seven. A slow start that saw us 0-26 down left us too much work to do despite a spirited second half fightback. When Austin Crow crossed for our third with around 15 minutes to go we eyed an incredible comeback as James Mattin's conversion made the score 21-26. However Exmouth grabbed a fifth following a period of sustained pressure that not only sapped the clock but also dashed our hopes. Tom Bird would grab a consolation fourth as the clock went dead but in the end it was too little to late. A tie full of fight there was plenty of positives for the coaching team to take away, along with plenty of work ons. It was great to welcome a handful of debutants to 1st XV rugby too with plenty of new names on the teamsheet.
