Topsham 12-24 Stourbridge

Henry Justice2 May - 16:48

Promotion hopes ended by Stourbridge

Amongst the non stop Devon rain our brilliant season came to an end with defeat to travelling Stourbridge. A narrow first half was followed up by an uncharacteristically toothless second period. A combination of the weather and a stubborn opponent but also perhaps the labours of a long, hard season that had already claimed plenty of victims. We were unable to land a blow on our opposition who managed the conditions and occasion the better to shut us out. At 12-17 down and seven left to go we had a 5m lineout and a real sniff at taking the lead. A lost ball and two minutes later we were stood under our posts knowing the day was done following a Stourbridge intercept. A cruel reminder of the game having only a week ago benefitted from something not too different. Stourbridge across the eighty were the better side and well deserving of their win that'll see them return to Devon to take on the Uni next week. We wish them all the best in that fixture. To our supporters, players and sponsors, what a season even if we were unable to put the cherry on the cake at the end. Thank you to you all for all your tireless work behind the scenes and on the pitch week in week out. What a club, what a season! Hey, chin up, at least we're keeping it relatively local next year!
