With the difference a single kick in the last outing this was an eagerly anticipated game for our Tempests. Starting quick we took an early lead only to be pulled back by Newton despite a string of resolute defensive plays. The reverse fixture had followed a similar pattern with us often scoring first but being pegged back only to lose out by a single conversion. The opening ten at 5-5 threatened a similar pattern but the team had different ideas this time out. The stalemate of the first half was ended when Justice rounded their winger after a sharp Santin turnover stole possession. Early in the second half we stretched our lead when Forrow broke from her own half and smartly put Santin away to score an eye catching try. The physicality never dipped and the onslaught from Newton was fierce but some resolute defense ensured they only scored the one. Into the final ten and we put the game to bed with Currie running in a dropout after Atkinson was held up before Em Owen on her 50th appearance rounded off a fantastic win by scoring and then converting under the shadow of the sticks.
