Topsham 54-34 Lydney
-Fifty at home and we're up and running-
A sluggish first half was rectified in commanding fashion as we powered to the finish line and all five points. Trailling 7-21 and 14-27 at times during the contest it took a final thirty minutes that were a complete opposite to our earlier troubles to put the game to bed. We struggled against a more than capable Lydney side for large periods hampered by a series of uncharacteristic errors. However after a second Lydney penalty on fifty minutes took them out to a 14-27 something switched. A quick fire trio of scores stretched us into the lead for the first time before Lydney got their final try to leave things poised at 35-34. We replied with another three of our own and this time they were more than enough to put the game to bed. At times it was far from pretty but the upside of our capabilities was plain to see in the final quarter of the match. Best of luck to Lydney who played their part in a fantastic match, they'll be more than a handful for many this season - especially at their place.

Withycombe 19-52 Topsham II
-Derby delight as 2nd XV see off Withy-

A strong showing from our 2nd XV saw them comfortably power past river rivals Withycombe for a perfect start. Eight tries in total including a hat-trick for Tom Hellewell were ran in to ensure us of our win. Next up attentions turn to Crediton II

Exmouth 24-7 Tempests
-Tempests suffer opening day defeat to Exmouth-
It was a disappointing start to the new season for our Tempests who lost out in a hard fought defeat to neighbours Exmouth. Despite strong periods of possession in the opposition half and 22 we were ultimately unable to make our opportunities pay. Exmouth on the other hand were the opposite capitalising on the majority of their chances deep into our half. An intercept returned from Exmouth's 5m line to under our sticks summed up the frustrations of the day. That said under new stewardship and with a number of new faces (And some returning) the process to the new look Tempests continues...most notably next Sunday away to Plymouth Albion in the Cup. Special mention to Jordan Myatt and Elly Meacham who both made their Tempest debuts. Elly also marked the appearance with a debut try.
