Despite enjoying the better part of the possession and territory Topsham were unable to apply the killer blow to a Lydney side that impressed in defence. 10-12 up at the break we fell behind when Lydney hit us with a sucker punch to go 15-12 up within the first five minutes of the second period. The remainder of the half was largely commanded by Topsham but we were unable to amass more than a meagre three to even up the scores. Deep in the later stages though the game was almost lost when following a missed penalty Lydney worked their way up to our five metre line. However perhaps justly we scrambled a steal and cleared to ensure they wouldn't pinch it at the death. Full time in Gloucestershire 15-15 in a game that we could have won but very nearly lost.
