Colts continue winning streak

Tavistock turn up with 14 and there’s no agreement reached to loan a player so 14 a side game is played. Unfortunately both teams played like they had a man in the bin and despite Tops having significant position, possession and territory it was a battle with Tavistock defending as if their lives depend on it!

As the game starts the weather deteriorates and Tops find themselves playing into a head wind. Tavi make a couple of forays into Tops territory but mostly it’s Tops attacking looking for routes through the 22. The first half ends 0-0.

Second half and the weather gets worse with horizontal rain but at least it’s at the boys backs. Play is similar with Tops attacking hard and Tavi defending with grit and determination. Eventually the forwards get close enough through pick and drives for Tom Bosworth to crash in for an opening score, Zac hits the post with the conversion but it’s 5-0.

Tops now look as if they might run away with the game but Tavi continue their ‘alamo’ defending and hold out until finally some good hands inside our half enables Ben Phillips to turn on the gas, fend off the cover, tip toe the line and then put the after burners on to outsprint the full back for a great try. Not bad for a prop! Conversion is too difficult from the touch line and the game finishes at 10-0.
