Tops Tic up another win

From kick off Tops regain possession and put pressure on the home side probing for opportunities left, right and centre. From an attacking line out Tops secure and maul and after an initial stop they break free and drive to the line with Josh Collins the man in possession to get the ball down for points. The conversion is missed and the score is 0-5.

From the restart Alex Taylor catches and makes good ground, off loads to Oz Martin on the touchline and with the pass inside to Harry Hart suddenly Tops are back inside the 22 and Torquay are in disarray. After a couple of pick and goes Gwyn Parks kicks cross field into the sun which Fin Marks catches with his back to the try line, spins, fends off the defender and scores. Again the conversion is wide and the score is 0-10.

Torquay restart and regain possession and after 15 minutes of being starved of the ball start to play their game manoeuvring their forwards into position to score a try under the posts through battering pick and goes. Somehow the conversion is missed and the score is 5-10 at half time.

The second half is much of the same with Tops creativity pinning Torquay back and starving them of possession. From a defending 5m scrum Torquay pass back into the deadball area for the No.10 to kick clear but under intense pressure his attempt to escape results in the ball being passed straight to Ed Smale who simply has to fall to the ground to score. The conversion is secure and the score is 5-17.

However, Tops switch off, complacency kicks in, the Tics come back and their big forwards punch through to score two tries through short drives and rucks and suddenly it’s 15-17 plus in the act of defending Will Bird gets sin binned so down to 14 players for the rest of the game.

However the team regroups and they raise their effort and intensity and simply go down the other end to score their own pick and drive try through Charlie Brook to end the game. Zac gets a lovely conversion and at the end the score is 15-24.
