Sunday 28th October
A chilly morning and car park chaos did nothing to put Topsham U12s off having a great whole squad rugby day at the Land Rover Cup in Exeter. Lots of teams that we knew well were there alongside some that we hadn’t played before which is always good to broaden our experience. After a slow start in the first couple of matches against strong opposition from Redruth and a close contest with Sidmouth, our team play really came together against Saltash and continued into strong performances in all the afternoon matches. So up against top teams from across Devon and Cornwall we know that the skills we have been focussing on in training really work: legs, legs, legs in the tackle; win the ruck and keep it won; draw and pass or pass out of the tackle; getting the ball out through the hands equals tries. Well done to everyone for working hard together on a cold day with lots of pauses between match time. Back to league matches on Sunday with a favourite away fixture in Ivybridge to look forward to. Have a good week all. Enjoy a spooky and fun Halloween.
