A win's a win but 3-0 cut it close

Topsham 2's displayed sheer grit and determination on saturday to turn streak of bad luck in games into a win in a predominantly pack orientated game.

The game was played on the smaller top pitch due to some turf issues on the big pitch. This suited the playing style of the burly forwards to a tee. The match started off with much of the possession and territory in topshams hands and this is the way it stayed for much of the game. Nathan Clark scored the only points of the game though he had some near misses with two other penalties awarded to the blues.

Topshams pack dominated the game in the scrum winning all of our scrums and a few of theirs thanks to the canny hooking of Kev Ware and the exceptionally robust Scrummaging of all the pack. lineouts were a bit hit and miss for both sides with a few handling errors in the air but if we didnt win the the ball in line we won it in the ruck.

There were several attempts at tries from, Olly Scott (who was judged to have knocked on in the ruck previously), Ian Mason (who was judged held up over the line), that handsome devil Dominic Cant (who was Judged held up over the line but was told afterwards by the crediton player it was grounded and he slipped his hands under afterwards) and Lofty who was stopped inches short.

Some Great runs were had from the backs Andy Scott-Hake made some yards even if he did try and go down the bildside on a ruck 1 foot from touch and Darren Davies was as slippery as ever.
