What can be said, when the heart and the will is there, however every phase of this game, Topsham seconds were second in all aspects.
The pattern of the afternoon was set by the hosts in the opening moments as Barum raced into a ten point lead. A glimmer of hope arrived with a missed penalty kick which was knocked on in the home sides in goal area and from the resulting scrum Topsham crossed the line after some good work from the backs, the try being score by young Josh Hawley.
This proved a false dawn as the home side regained the upper hand with further scores. At half time Barum led 27pts to 5pts.
The second half panned out as the fist with Topsham being out played with missed tackles, and off the pace the home side gratefully accepted their chances and scored at regular intervals. With the heat of the afternoon taken effect, the game became ragged and with some luck coming Topshams way saw Luke Scriven score the away sides second try. Finally the game came to an end and the weather hot and the home side to hot to handle. Final score 67pts to 10pts.
Man of the match was Josh Hawley who tried to tackle everything that moved.
