A hastily thrown together Topsham side travelled to Totnes to take part in a game arranged as part of a memorial day for a Totnes player who, sadly passed away during a game two weeks previously.
In a day filled with high emotion, Topsham managed to scrape together a dozen players to make the trip to Totnes who, understandably had a plethora of players, several of whom donned the double-blue of Topsham in order to make the game competitive.
It was a game in which the script almost demanded a Totnes victory, and with a squad of approximately 40 players this was never really in doubt. Topsham however, were competitive for a good 60 minutes and even led at one point before Totnes' far superior advantage eventually told
An enjoyable game played in exactly the right spirit ended with Totnes running out 40-28 winners. Topsham points being scored through Dom Cant and Tim Taylor with a try each, two penalties and two conversions also from the boot of Taylor.
